ForgottenDawn's News

Posted by ForgottenDawn - September 8th, 2015

Yup, that's right.

I have just revoked my Freedom partnership on Youtube. Why? Because I think that sharing and product placement are more important than money itself and potential earnings.

Surely, there's no doubt that Forgotten Dawn is still an incredibly small channel with a little over 300 subscribers, as well as there's no doubt that I open up a bottle of champagne every time one of my videos passes the 100 views mark. However, it's also true that by joining their network I basically renounced to some of my freedoms, including the ability to decide whether videos I should monetize or not, which is — in my honest and humble opinion, bullshit.

I saw virtually no changes ever since I joined and I basically wasted my time even trying to gain something from it. So long story short, I'm saying a big flat NO to their ways, ensuring I have complete control over my own content without having to follow any enclosed community for the sole purpose of pushing my own channel towards lesser and lesser freedom.

Sorry for the rant, folks, just wanted it to get out of my chest for anyone of you who's thinking "maybe I should monetize my channel". Think twice.

Hey folks, August's almost done. Time sure flies...

Just passing by to say that I'm not going to be around much during the upcoming month of September due to real life commitments and a need to focus on other projects other than my own.

That's right, I'm still wanting to release a new version of _fade on Gamejolt with my good friend Zack on the codes. This version has been in the works for months and though still incomplete, the game/experience is playable with nearly 60-70% of the intended areas explorable. Follow the game at the link above for updates on its development!

Other than that, there's the newly opened GoFundMe that I have been trying to share in the past few days. If there's still any good soul left on planet Earth, you're more than welcome to contribute :D It's not just for me but for the future of the Forgotten Dawn project, as there's much to come and I'd like to fulfill its potential at some point in time — needless to say it's very important to me and I'd like to share the experience with as many people as possible.

What else, well... there's a lot of music I uploaded over the years you can listen to during my absence, so... have a look. :)

Questions, comments, ratings, feel free to address them in the section below.

Hey folks!

Just a quick announcement for anybody that has been interested in Forgotten Dawn since its first day: GoFundMe is now live. Details are covered in the following campaign description.

Greetings, everyone! I am Claudio, author of the music project Forgotten Dawn. I have been leading the project for a little over 2 years now, and I have been working hard to push my music well beyond the boundaries of the industry, focusing instead on producing scores for indie video games and being actively involved in game design.

I am currently a student, and I have done many sacrifices to ensure some financial stability while still taking care of my great passion for music and video games. Unfortunately, sheer will power alone isn't enough to pave the road ahead and I still have a long way to go to achieve this dream, but this is why I have ultimately decided to humbly ask for your help.

I would like to afford better professional tools for music and video game production and make sure my products meet certain standards in the grand scale of things. I realize the campaign goal isn't something within an immediate reach, but any help, even just 1 euro would be greatly appreciated.

For anyone willing to support my cause, you will forever have my deepest and sincerest gratitude. I encourage you to write your full names in your donations so that I can let everyone know who has contributed in the growth of Forgotten Dawn, not only as a musical project, but as an active and respectful community.

For any questions, feel free to ask below in the comments :)

Thank you for your attention and have a great day

Hey there, I have some good news to share!

X App Studio Group has just released their first major milestone title called "Tears of the Machine: Episode 01". We've been working on it very hard for well over a year, and we are very proud to have it finally available on iTunes for iPhone and iPad!

Having being the team composer ever since Prologue, I wanted to reflect the darker direction the project has been approaching so far through the use of ominous ambiances, extensive use of distortion and noise, and a generally more eclectic, action-oriented output.

The soundtrack is available on Bandcamp at a steal base price of 1.50€, so feel encouraged to support the Forgotten Dawn project through your purchases. :)

The game is available at this link here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tears-of-the-machine/id982078056?ls=1&mt=8

Hello folks!

FD here with a new project called "mangled.bits".

It's an experimental mini album featuring glitched electronic tracks and unpredictable sounds. It was made as a challenge to myself, as I wanted to make quirky music in the least time possible while still adding something a little different to what I have been doing lately.

The eight tracks making up the album will be shortly available on Newgrounds.

If you feel impatient you can always download the tracks for free on Bandcamp at this link: https://forgottendawn.bandcamp.com/album/mangled-bits

Thanks for your attention and feel free to leave comments/share some love!

P.S.: pssst, there are a couple of extras in the Bandcamp album version. :o

Hey folks!

It's been a blast at the Indie Revolution Expo last night! There have been amazing projects showcased, I think about 70 games in total, and it's been a great opportunity to know such dedicated people around the globe, not just programmers but also artists and designers.

To anyone who has missed the show including my own panel, I will share the recorded stream here as soon as it becomes available, so stay tuned for now :)

Hello folks!

I am happy to announce my participation to this online streaming event called Indie Revolution Expo, featuring musicians, game designers and programmers from all over the globe!

I think it is an amazing opportunity to showcase what I have been doing so far for this project, stream my music in the feed while introducing new people what are my plans for the future and stuff.

You don't need to sign in to watch the stream, but you will if you'd like to say a few words in the chat room. Just remember to keep it clean so that everyone can enjoy the show fine ;)

I am really excited for it, and my own panel begins on Saturday 18th at 5 pm EST on Hitbox.tv

I hope to see a lot of people coming, feel free to invite friends, family, anyone!

See you!

Hey folks, fans and friends alike, just a quick announcement for you all!

You might have noticed some recent changes in our Youtube channel. I have in fact deleted all the old videos pre-redesign and I have changed the titles of all my album-related videos, such as sixteen, _fade ep, Aura & Blight and Tears of the Machine: Prologue.

Reasons are simple:
- To give the channel a more unified look using fully original content
- To give a more streamlined search reference for both Youtube and the audience using a simple [author] - [track title] format

Due to the old videos' deletion, I estimated that we're going to lose at least 10k of the total channel views, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could help us recover those views, either by sharing the videos or just spread the word around! :)

That's all for now! Stay tuned

Hello folks, I have some pretty neat news to share with you.

I have been working with the fellows at X App Studio Group on a game for iOS devices called "Aura & Blight", and we are very excited to announce its release at the iTunes store!

The game is completely free of charge, it features my own soundtrack available separately on Bandcamp, and you can also support the group by following it on Gamejolt, Facebook and Twitter.

We have worked incredibly hard on this app and there is still a lot more to come!

Please, stay tuned and enjoy the experience!

Hey folks, I'm here to announce something that might catch your interest.

Remember the little experiment I mentioned a while back in this newspost? Well then, I give you Project Hyperion.

Hyperion can be considered a spiritual successor to Sixteen, in that it will still include a plethora of experimental loops, but in much bigger numbers, with each loop composed on maximum 8 musical bars at 82 BPM featuring all sorts of crazy, digital sounds and what-not.

What's all the fuss about? Well, it is quite simple.

Hyperion would serve me as a creative bed for any potential project (on-going and future) with similar premises, and it would greatly aid me studying the variety of sounds and atmospheres around by putting them into practice right on the spot. Think of these loops as ideas, building blocks I am willing to share with you all for open discussion, feedback, and why not, also as a resource for your own projects if you think certain sounds would fit another particular idea.

If you'd like to use any of these loops as part of your pitch, please send me a PM. As a general heads-up, you are encouraged to use these loops for your own projects, as long as proper credit is given to the author. I would definitely love to see these in a video game (on Gamejolt, or even here on Newgrounds).

It is both a self-imposed challenge and a tool to help me piece different bits of information together in my head, that could serve as fundamental blocks for something bigger and more complex.
