The New Year 2020 Post

Posted by ForgottenDawn - January 3rd, 2020

So, new decade, new life, right?

No, don't worry, folks. This won't be one of those new year resolution kind of posts. I would rather just spend a few words on things that I have already planned ahead of time and will likely see the light of day at some point in 2020. In fact, it's going to be a huge year in terms of FD releases, and it's mostly due to the culmination of several ideas birthed way back that I have been slowly carrying on as commitments kept piling up.

It's potentially going to be the first year where my own community could have an active role in turning Forgotten Dawn into a creative crossroads for any kind of creator, fan, lurker and casual listener alike. I feel like it would transition the project from a (mostly) isolated one-man endeavor to more of a virtual hub where people can actively share their own creations and be the community. In other words, there may be regular community events in our Discord involving fan-made content I would then showcase on YouTube in dedicated videos and playlists.

Secondly, I've been taking a small break from soundtrack commissions lately because I felt the need to focus on my own content first, on top of facing IRL duties outside of my personal creative sphere. I honestly don't know when soundtracks or VGM-related content like covers will return at some point, but rest assured they will come back into the public spotlight if not by the end of this year, 2021 onward.

Thirdly, if I'm still riding the wave and haven't depleted myself entirely, I would love to design my own commercial sample pack of lo-fi ambiances and sell them in various marketplaces like the Unity Asset Store, since it's something I haven't done in well over 5 years. I wanted to renew my own storefronts (either Unity or Audiojungle) starting last year, but I just couldn't. So, hopefully, small steps will get me through the finish line.

Last, but not least, I'd like to address my doom metal audience coming from difference places around the internet. I haven't forgotten about you. I even have demos for future "atmospheric funeral doom metal experiments" beyond #4, which is still in progress. I've sadly had little time last year to further progress with any of them, since as you might tell I tend to be just a little busy, so I can only hope to at least release a couple finished tracks this year, though, as always, please take it with a pinch of salt.

That's about it. And now for my obligatory e-begging: feel free to leave a dime to my Patreon or anywhere allowing you to buy my own stuff if you'd like, even just the equivalent of a coffee means the world to me. Subscribe, follow, comment, reshare, do whatever you like.

Stay tuned, folks.
