I liked this post! I feel music/musicians are much too complex to stuff into genres, else that innate engineering can be stiffened. Though categorizing definitely has its uses. As for listening ears, wonder if there is sometimes the false presumption that if a song or artist isn't on the radio, it must be because their music isn't good enough? Or maybe busy lives prevent some from looking beyond what is presented to them. Regardless there are always different expressions of sound and opportunities for growth waiting to be discovered by those willing to search. Um.. on a side note, I accidentally just clicked 1 on the the vote thingy while scrolling up *BLUSH* I'm a greenhorn to this site, but hopefully it won't take more than a moment to figure out how to retract that... so sorry!!
Haha, don't worry about it :) It's just a number.
But yeah, the state of the mainstream is pretty sad. This is why I love being underground, even though at the same time I just wish I had a little bit more of audience, I still know there are good listeners that take their time. I want to invite reflection through what I do, this is how I interpret an artistic endeavor. Through thought comes knowledge, and through knowledge comes experience. I think it's precious if any piece of art is able to do that to an audience.
